Grambling State topples Arkansas Pine- Bluff 7-0

GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team defeated the University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff 7-0 Friday afternoon at the Pumphrey Soccer Complex. 

The loss brought Arkansas Pine- Bluff to 1-12-2 overall and 0-7-1 in the conference.

Olivia Kowall opened the scoring in the 29th minute for the Lady Tigers, she was assisted by Khori Banks. The Tigers extended their lead shortly after halftime, with Aria Whitney scoring her first goal of the match in the 47th minute, with assist from Jayla Gage.

Whitney added another goal just 14 minutes later, this time assisted by Khori Banks, bringing her tally to two for the match. The offensive onslaught continued as Jayla Gage scored her 14th goal of the season in the 66th minute, with assists from Kennedy Farr and Ronya Halleen.

Alana Aiken got in on the action next, in the 71st minute, assisted by Aubrey Salazar. Kennedy Farr got on the board in the 74th minute to extend the lead to 6-0.

Aiken followed up with another goal in the 86th minute to cap off scoring for the Tigers, again assisted by Salazar.

The victory showcased a dominant performance from Grambling State, who now stand at 8-8-3 overall and 6-2-0 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

Olivia Kowall opened the scoring in the 29th minute, followed by two goals from Aria Whitney and a goal from Jayla Gage. Kennedy Farr scored a late second half goal. Alana Aiken capped the scoring with two late goals, both assisted by Aubrey Salazar

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Grambling State took 27 shots in total with 17 on target.
  • UAPB had two shots with none on target.
  • GSU took six corner kicks. 
  • Arkansas Pine- Bluff attempted one corner kick.
  • UAPB received one yellow card.
