GRAMBLING, LA | The Grambling State University women's volleyball team fought intensely but ultimately fell to Southern University in a tight 3-2 match on November 11th at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center. This challenging contest shifts Grambling's record to 9-16 overall and 6-8 in SWAC play, while Southern improves to 11-19 overall and 8-6 in the conference.Â
The Tigers took an early lead, winning the first two sets 25-14 and 25-18. Southern rallied, however, taking the third set 26-24 and pushing forward to win the fourth set 27-25. In a nail-biting fifth set, Southern secured the match with a 15-9 score.Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERSÂ
• Essence Allen delivered a standout performance, reaching a career milestone with her 1,000th kill. She finished the match with 22 kills on a .317 hitting percentage, along with 19 digs, totaling 23.5 points.Â
• Kai Williams added 10 kills and 2 blocks, contributing both offensively and defensively with 11 points.Â
• Ra'Niya Brown chipped in 10 kills, hitting at .316, adding 13 points to the Tigers' total.Â
• Letícia Correa orchestrated the offense with 28 assists and contributed 9 digs, rounding out a balanced team effort.Â
• Grambling posted an overall hitting percentage of .213, with 59 kills and 78 digs throughout the match.Â
