Grambling State Volleyball Falls to Florida A&M in SWAC Tournament
GRAMBLING, LA | The Grambling State University women's volleyball team had its season come to a close on Friday morning in the 2024 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament, falling to No. 1 seed Florida A&M in four sets (13-25, 25-22, 11-25, 24-26) at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Florida A&M (25-6) asserted control early, taking the first set 25-13 with efficient offense and defense. Grambling State (10-19) responded with grit in the second set, earning a hard-fought 25-22 win to even the match. However, FAMU surged back in the third set, dominating 25-11. The fourth set proved to be an intense battle, with multiple lead changes, but Florida A&M edged Grambling 26-24 to seal the victory.
KEY PERFORMERS

Essence Allen led the Tigers with 15 kills, 12 digs, and a total of 16 points, showcasing her impact on both offense and defense.

Ra'Niya Brown contributed 5 kills on a stellar .364 hitting percentage.

Kai Williams added 6 kills while hitting an impressive .357, with 6.5 points total.
• Letícia Correa dished out 24 assists and added a service ace.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Grambling recorded 42 kills on 148 attempts, hitting .149, while Florida A&M tallied 61 kills on 149 attempts with a .275 hitting percentage.
• The Tigers had 10 total blocks, highlighted by their defensive efforts at the net.
• Florida A&M excelled at spreading its offense, with Brooke Lynn Watts and Isis Williams combining for 28 kills.
