GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University men's basketball team suffered a 60-50 setback to Alabama A&M on Monday night at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
GSU (11-13 overall, 8-3 SWAC) couldn't find consistent, struggling to get shots to fall. The Tigers shot 29.1 percent from the floor (16-of-55) and connected on 2-of-16 (12.5 percent) from behind the arc.
Alabama A&M (6-18, 5-6 SWAC) wasn't much better from the field knocking down 19-of-56 of its shots (33.9 percent) and failing to drain any three-pointers (0-of-9).
Kintavious Dozier was the only Tiger to reach double-figures scoring, contributing 11 points, five rebounds and a steal.
Grambling State got out the gates quickly on Alabama A&M, building a 10-2 lead. The Bulldogs used an 8-0 run to tie the game at 10-10 with 10:38 to go in the half.
Mikale Stevenson splashed a three-pointer to put GSU back in front 13-10. After the Tigers stretched their lead to 19-14, AAMU began to settle in, closing the half on a 15-6 run to lead 29-23 at halftime.
Grambling State struggled to shoot the ball well from the field in the opening period, connecting on just 27.6 percent of its shots (8-of-29). There was only one three-pointer made in the first half between both teams. GSU was 1-of-9 while AAMU was 0-of-5.
Alabama A&M quickly stretched its lead to 11 points, 40-29, coming out of the break. GSU was never able to get it gear offensively, continuing to shoot poorly from the field in the second half, connecting on 8-of-25 of its FG attempts (32.0 percent).
AAMU was led by Omari Peek and Cameron Tucker who both scored a game-high 14 points.

- Grambling State went 16-of-55 from the floor (29.1 percent) including 2-of-16 (12.5 percent) from behind the arc and 16-of-27 (59.3 percent) from the free throw line.
- Alabama A&M connected on 19-of-56 of its field goal attempts (33.9 percent), 0-of-9 from three-point range and 22-of-30 from the free throw line (73.3 percent).
- AAMU held a 56-32 rebounding advantage.
- Grambling State scored 28 points in the paint, 15 bench points, 13 fast break points, nine second chance points and 13 points off 19 turnovers.
- Alabama A&M finished with 32 points in the paint, 27 bench points, 16 fastbreak points, 11 second-chance points and seven points off 15 GSU turnovers.
