Grambling, LA| The Grambling State University women's basketball the played its home finale on Willis Reed Court at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center on Monday night, defeating Bethune Cookman University 64-54.
GSU (19-8 overall, 13-3 SWAC) played in a physical matchup against BCU (15-15, 10-7 SWAC) Monday night. The key to victory for The Lady Tigers was their ball movement and unselfish team play.
Jazmyne Jackson led her team in scoring with 12 points on 5-11 shooting. Tiana Garner also contributed 11 points, and Kayla White of BCU was the game's leading scorer with 16 points.
In a back and forth first half that had five lead changes saw each Tiger that touched the floor contribute to the scoring efforts. The Lady Tigers would take a 27-24 lead into the halftime break.
Grambling was able to stretch their lead back up to double digits in the second half. A
Jordyn Carter layup in the fourth brought the score to 60-50.
This victory makes eight in a row for the Tigers.
