GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University football team is set for a Homecoming clash versus Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) foe Texas Southern on Saturday night at Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
GSU enters the game with a 3-2 overall mark on the season with an 0-1 record in the SWAC. TSU sports 2-3 record with a 2-1 mark in the SWAC.
Grambling State, who is coming off a bye week, looks to win its first SWAC game of the season. The Tigers dropped their conference opener, 28-13, to Prairie View A&M in the 100th State Fair Classic on Sept. 27.
GAME PREVIEW
Saturday's game with be the 72nd all-time meeting between GSU and TSU. Grambling State leads the all-time series 48-20-3. Texas Southern won last year's contest 24-17 in Houston, Texas.
Both GSU and TSU need wins to keep pace in the SWAC West Division standings.
In Grambling State's loss at PVAMU, the Tigers gained 266 yards on offense.
Texas Southern is coming off a 51-7 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
TSU finished with 557 total rushing yards as 350 were via the ground and 207 came from the air. Wide Receiver Roriyon Richardson made seven receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns while Quarterback KJ Cooper passed for 197 yards and two touchdowns on 16-of-23 passing. Athean Renfro led all rushers with 133 yards on 22 carries while Isaiah Bogerty led the way with seven tackles.
TSU is led by head coach Chris Dishman who is in his third season. He sports a career record of 7-9.
HOMECOMING SUCCESS
Grambling State is 18-1 in Homecoming games since 2005.
FIRST HOMECOMING GAME UNDER THE LIGHTS
This year's homecoming game will be the first time in school history that GSU's homecoming game will played at night.
RABY LEADS THE SWAC
Through the first first half of the 2025 season, Grambling State defensive back Tyrell Raby leads the SWAC in interceptions. Raby has two INTs so far this season
Raby also has a fumble recovery that was returned for an 83-yard touchdown in GSU's 37-31 win over Kentucky State.
ROBINSON IS DEFENSIVE MENACE
Transfer defensive end Warren Robinson has made an impact along the GSU defensive line.
Robinson ranks third in the SWAC in total sacks with four.
The Houston, Texas native has 14 total tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss.
OFFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT
The Grambling State offense have improved upon its offensive woes from last season.
Currently, the Tigers rank fifth in the SWAC in scoring offense, averaging 30.8 points per game.
Last year, GSU scored just 11 passing touchdowns during the season. Through Grambling State's first four games, the Tigers have seven passing TDs
BALANCED RUN GAME
Grambling State features a five running back rotation in the offensive backfield.
Byron Eaton Jr., Tre Bradford, Andre Crews, Tony Phillips Jr. and Clyde McCelendon Jr. have all been used extensively in the offense.
Bradford leads the Tigers with 241 yards and one touchdown on 42 carries.
As a unit, Grambling State ranks seventh in the SWAC in rushing offense. The Tigers average 158.2 yards per game.

Replacing two-starter Myles Crawley is C'zavian Teasett
Teasett, a transfer from Southern Univeristy, as thrown for 883 yards, 7 TDs and 4 INTs while completing 77-of-136 of his passes.
NEW FACES ON COACHING STAFF
Grambling State fans can expect to see a plethora of new coaches roaming the sidelines for the Tigers this season.
GSU welcomes Erik Losey (Offensive Line), WIllie Mack-Garza (Safeties), Reggie Moore (Wide Recievers), Aaron Tiller (Defensive Line), Wyatt Anderson (Tight Ends) and Alan Ricard (Special Teams) to the staff this season.
