Lady Tigers Explode for Four Goals to End Jackson State’s Unbeaten Conference Run

GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team delivered its most complete performance of the season, ending Jackson State's undefeated SWAC run and five-game shutout streak with a dominant 4–0 victory on Sunday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.

With the win, Grambling improved to 5–6–3 overall and 2–0–1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while Jackson State fell to 6–6–2 and 5–1–0 in the league.

The Lady Tigers wasted no time setting the tone.

In just the sixth minute Liana Bryant put Grambling on top 1–0, finishing a pass from Kaylen Jankans

The goal ended Jackson State's five-match shutout streak.

From there, Grambling's attack continued to apply relentless pressure throughout the match.

Defensively, the back line anchored by Cariana Pou, Taya Sands, and Kaylen Jankans was equally impressive. The trio limited Jackson to just three total shots.

The breakthrough came again in the second half.

Sophia Lezizidis doubled Grambling's advantage in the 68th minute, calmly converting a penalty kick.

Less than a minute later, Taya Sands delivered a moment of brilliance bending a free kick from outside the box into the back of the net to push Grambling's lead to 3–0.

Lezizidis capped off the afternoon in the 87th minute, slotting home her second goal of the match off an assist from Cindy Norfles and Kennedy Farr to complete the 4–0 rout.
