PINE BLUFF, Ark. | Grambling State looks to shake off last weekend's 21-20 loss to Texas Southern as the G-Men travel to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Simmons Bank Field and will be streamed on SWAC TV.
GSU (3-3 overall, 0-2 SWAC) is seeking its first SWAC victory of the season. A win would give the Tigers its first road win since defeating UAPB 43-14 on Nov. 10, 2023.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-3, 1-1 SWAC) enters Saturday's game following a dominating 79-10 homecoming win over Westgate Christian, which tied a school record for most points in a game.
GAME PREVIEW
Saturday's game with be the 50th all-time meeting between GSU and UAPB. Grambling State leads the all-time series 34-13-2. GSU defeated the Golden Lions 31-21 last season in Grambling, La.
In last weekend's game versus Texas Southern, the G-Men rumbled for 215 rushing yards, its third highest output this season.
Tre Bradford led the ground attack with a season-high 120 yards on 11 carries.
In Grambling State threw for 143 yards in the loss to TSU. GSU put up 358 yards of total offense.
UAPB finished with 579 yards of total offense in its victory over Westgate Christian. The Golden Lions rolled up 306 rushing yards in the win.
Golden Lions' QB Christian Peters ranks third in the SWAC in passing yards with 1,021. He's also thrown six touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 85-of-152 passes.
UAPB is led by head coach Alonzo Hampton who is 7-21 in his third year.
SACK LEADERS
- Grambling State's defense is currently at the top of the SWAC in total sacks.
- The Tigers have registered 13 sacks on the season, which is tied with Bethune-COokman for the most in the conference.
- Defensive end Warren Robinson is the team-leader woith 4.0 sacks.
RABY AND LINZER LEAD THE SWAC IN INTS
- Grambling State defensive backs Tyrell Raby and Markel Linzer are tied for the most interceptions in the SWAC. Both Raby and Linzer have picked off two passes.
ROBINSON IS DEFENSIVE MENACE
- Transfer defensive end Warren Robinson has made an impact along the GSU defensive line.
- Robinson ranks third in the SWAC in total sacks with four.
- The Houston, Texas native has 14 total tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss.
DEFENSE EMERGES
- The Grambling State defnese has stepped up its game this season, ranking within the top three of the SWAC in multiple categories.
- The Tigers rank second in passing defense, surrendering 194.5 yards per game.
- GSU ranks third in total defense (353.2 ypg) and rushing defense (158.7 ypg).
BALANCED RUN GAME
- Grambling State features a five running back rotation in the offensive backfield.
- Byron Eaton Jr., Tre Bradford, Andre Crews, Tony Phillips Jr. and Clyde McCelendon Jr. have all been used extensively in the offense.
- Bradford leads the Tigers with 362 yards and one touchdown on 53 carries.
- As a unit, Grambling State ranks eighth in the SWAC in rushing offense. The Tigers average 167.7 yards per game.

- Replacing two-starter Myles Crawley is C'zavian Teasett
- Teasett, a transfer from Southern Univeristy, as thrown for 895 yards, 7 TDs and 4 INTs while completing 81-of-140 of his passes.
