Lady Tigers Cruise Past Devilettes for Home Sweep

GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State volleyball delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Monday night, sweeping Mississippi Valley State 3-0 inside the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

The win marked another key SWAC victory for the Lady Tigers, who improved to 4-15 overall and 3-6 in conference play, while the Devilettes fell to 3-14 and 0-9 in the SWAC.

The Lady Tigers controlled the match from start to finish, taking sets by scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-19.

Grambling's offense was on fire, hitting an impressive .309 as a team while holding MVSU to a .207 clip.

Avri Solik-Fifarek led the attack with 11 kills and added two service aces, while Rihianna Brown followed closely with 10 kills.

Kenya Lucas added nine kills and two blocks to round out Grambling's dominant front line.

Reece Cook and Alayna Howard shared setting duties with 16 assists apiece.

Leisey Keli'i anchored the back row with 10 digs and a match-high four aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Grambling came out sharp, jumping ahead early on kills from Ra'Niya and Rihianna Brown. A service ace from Howard and timely kills by Keli'i and Solik-Fifarek helped extend the lead midway through. The Lady Tigers maintained control, and Keli'i closed the set in style with back-to-back aces to secure a 25-19 win.

Set 2: Momentum stayed on Grambling's side as Lucas and Solik-Fifarek sparked a fast start with consecutive kills to build an 8-2 lead. The Lady Tigers continued to dominate behind efficient setting from Cook and Howard, spreading the offense across multiple hitters. A late kill by Rihianna Brown sealed the frame, giving GSU a 2-0 match advantage with a 25-17 victory.

Set 3: In the final set, Grambling's front line took over once again. Lucas and Solik-Fifarek powered through the MVSU block, while Brown added key kills to keep the momentum rolling. The Lady Tigers never looked back, closing the night on a strong defensive stand capped by a Lucas kill to complete the sweep, 25-19.
