Grambling State Drops Tight Four-Set Match to Florida A&M

GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State volleyball put up a determined effort Monday night inside the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center but came up short in a four-set battle against Florida A&M.

The Lady Tigers fell 3-1, with set scores of 25-23, 20-25, 15-25, and 24-26.

Avri Solik-Fifarek led the GSU offense with 15 kills, while Morgan Munro followed with 10.

Jazmine Binion chipped in five kills, and Kenya Lucas added four.

Ra'Niya Brown and Rihianna Brown were strong at the net with 2.5 blocks apiece, while Leisey Keli'i anchored the back row with a match-high 19 digs.

Reece Cook and Alayna Howard directed the offense with 17 and 14 assists, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Grambling came out sharp, using aggressive serving and quick swings to take control early. Solik-Fifarek and Munro combined for key kills down the stretch, and a block from Ra'Niya Brown secured a 25-23 opening-set win for the Lady Tigers.

Set 2: Florida A&M found its rhythm in the second frame, turning long rallies into points. Despite kills from Solik-Fifarek and Lucas, the Rattlers built late momentum to even the match with a 25-20 win.

Set 3: FAMU carried that energy into the third set, taking advantage of early errors to gain separation. Grambling battled to stay close but couldn't recover as the Rattlers pulled away 25-15.

Set 4: The Lady Tigers fought hard in a back-and-forth fourth set, fueled by clutch swings from Solik-Fifarek and Munro. Grambling held a late lead before FAMU closed on a 3-0 run to edge out the set 26-24 and secure the match.
