GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team closed out the regular season in dominating fashion, routing Arkansas–Pine Bluff 7–0 on at the GSU Soccer Complex on Friday afternoon.
The victory kept the Lady Tigers unbeaten in conference play as they head into the postseason with momentum.
This is the second year in a row where Grambling State has finished out the regular season on a 7-0 win.
Last year's victory was also against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on November 1, 2024.
Grambling (8–6–5 overall, 5–0–3 SWAC) wasted no time asserting control, peppering the Golden Lions' defense from the opening whistle.
The offensive surge began in the 13th minute when
Sophia Lezizidis scored her sixth goal of the season off an assist from
Chloe Bryant.
Moments later, Lezizidis turned provider, setting up
Olivia Kowall in the 18th minute to double the lead.
The Lady Tigers continued to dominate possession, and
Giulia Altomare extended the margin to 3–0 in the 21st minute with a strike assisted by
Liana Bryant.
Aubrey Salazar added her first goal of the season in the 30th minute, assisted by
Jayla Gage making Grambling's lead 4-0 heading into halftime.
Grambling's attack stayed relentless in the second half.
Liana Bryant found the back of the net in the 49th minute off an assist from Altomare.
Kowall added her second goal of the match in the 74th minute, again set up by Gage.
To close out the scoring,
Alana Aiken delivered her 12th goal of the season in the 88th minute, assisted by
Kaylen Jankans, sealing the 7–0 victory.
The Tigers defense was equally impressive, holding Arkansas–Pine Bluff (1–13–1, 0–8–0 SWAC) without a single shot attempt for the entire match.
Grambling goalkeeper Kaia Back and the back line recorded another clean sheet in one of the team's most complete performances of the season.
