LORMAN, Miss. | Grambling State volleyball closed out the weekend with a dominant sweep over Alcorn State, 3–0, on Sunday afternoon inside the Davey L. Whitney Health & Physical Education Complex.
The Lady Tigers improved to 7–17 overall and 5–8 in SWAC play, while the Lady Braves fell to 3–24 and 2–11 in the conference.
Grambling controlled the match from start to finish, taking the sets by scores of 25–16, 25–15, and 25–23 to earn their second consecutive road victory.
Junior outside hitter
Kenya Lucas led the attack with 10 kills and two blocks, while
Jazmine Binion followed with eight kills and three blocks.
Ra'Niya Brown was a defensive presence at the net, tallying five total blocks, and Leisey Kelly anchored the back row with 16 digs and two service aces.
Setter
Alayna Howard directed the offense with 16 assists and added three kills, while
Amaris Marks contributed three aces and seven digs.
The Lady Tigers hit .135 as a team while holding Alcorn to just a .029 hitting percentage.
Grambling also outscored the Lady Braves 11–5 and finished with nine total blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Grambling opened strong, building early momentum behind Lucas and Binion. The Lady Tigers used steady serving and consistent net play to pull away late and take the first set, 25–16.
Set 2: The Lady Tigers maintained full control in the second, jumping out to a 9–2 lead with key aces from Marks and Keli'i. Grambling's front-line defense held Alcorn to a negative hitting percentage in the frame, cruising to a 25–15 win.
Set 3: Alcorn battled back in the third set, trading points deep into the frame. A timely block by Brown and a late kill from Lucas sealed the sweep as Grambling closed out the match, 25–23.

Grambling State returns to action Monday, Nov. 10, traveling to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to face Southern University. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
