GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State put together a dominant performance on Monday afternoon, defeating LeTourneau University 97–33 at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
The Tigers jumped out to an early advantage, holding LeTourneau to 13 points in the opening quarter before tightening defensively the rest of the way.
Grambling used a balanced offensive attack and relentless pressure to build a 48–18 halftime lead, then outscored the YellowJackets 30–8 in the third quarter to put the game firmly out of reach.
Grambling State shot 55.6 percent from the field while scoring 64 points in the paint and 34 fast-break points.
The Tigers also capitalized on turnovers, converting 42 points off giveaways and finishing with 53 bench points.
Shaniah Nunn led all scorers with 18 points and added 12 rebounds for a double-double in just 17 minutes of action.
Arianna Mosley followed with 15 points off the bench, while
Zhaniah Ervin and
Claire Simmons each chipped in 12 points.
Zaria Johnson and
Monica Marsh added 10 points apiece with Marsh also recording six steals.
Defensively, Grambling State limited LeTourneau to 23.5 percent shooting from the floor and forced 32 turnovers.
The Tigers controlled the glass as well outrebounding the YellowJackets 60–22.
Grambling State outscored LeTourneau in every quarter and never trailed in the contest, improving to 3–10 on the season.
