Grambling State Dominates Prairie View A&M in 75-54 Victory

GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State dominated Prairie View A&M in a convincing 75-54 victory on Thursday night in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

With the win, Grambling State improves to 10-13 overall and 7-5 in SWAC play, while Prairie View A&M falls to 6-15 overall and 3-9 in the conference standings.

Kahia Warmsley led Grambling State with 14 points, five assists, and eight rebounds. Lydia Freeman was perfect from the field, going 7-for-7 to finish with 14 points, while Alyssa Phillip added 13 points and five rebounds.

Grambling State took control early, holding a 15-19 deficit after the first quarter before responding with a strong second period to take a 31-25 lead at halftime. 

The Tigers extended their advantage in the third quarter behind efficient scoring in the paint, outscoring Prairie View A&M 18-19. 

A dominant fourth quarter saw Grambling State explode for 26 points while holding the Panthers to just 10, securing the commanding victory.

Defensively, the Tigers were relentless, forcing 32 turnovers and converting those miscues into 35 points. Grambling State also dominated the rebounding battle, pulling down 40 boards compared to Prairie View A&M's 34.

Prairie View A&M was led by Adreanna Waddle, who scored a team-high 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, while Crystal Schultz added nine points on three three-pointers.

  • Grambling State shot 35.0 percent from the field (28-of-80) and struggled from beyond the arc, making just 2-of-15 attempts (13.3 percent).
  • Prairie View A&M shot 35.7 percent from the field (20-of-56) and 17.6 percent from three-point range (3-of-17).
  • Grambling State dominated at the free-throw line, converting 17-of-23 attempts (73.9 percent), while Prairie View A&M made 11-of-16 (68.8 percent).
  • The Tigers forced 32 turnovers and capitalized with 35 points off those miscues.
  • Grambling State held a 40-34 advantage in rebounding, including 20 offensive boards.
