Aiken’s Hat Trick Leads Grambling State to 3-0 Win Over Hampton

GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State women's soccer earned a 3-0 victory over Hampton Sunday evening at the GSU Soccer Complex.

Forward Alana Aiken scored all three goals for the Tigers, recording her first career hat trick.

The match opened with a back-and-forth pace, with both teams searching for an early breakthrough.

Grambling applied steady pressure and was rewarded in the 23rd minute when Aiken calmly buried a penalty kick into the back of the net.

The Tigers carried that 1-0 advantage into halftime after limiting the Pirates to just two shots in the opening 45 minutes.

Grambling continued to dictate the match in the second half.

Aiken struck again in the 66th minute, finishing off a pass from Liana Bryant to double the lead.

Less than seven minutes later, she completed her hat trick with a composed finish off a setup from Whitney Walker sealing the victory for the Tigers.

Grambling's defense was equally impressive. The Tigers defense was anchored by Cariana Pou, Kaylen Jankans, and Taya Sands

They kept Hampton off the scoreboard despite the Pirates taking 10 total shot attempts.

Goalkeeper Kaia Bace came up with two saves to secure the shutout.

With the result, Grambling improves to 2-1-1 overall. Hampton falls to 0-2 with the defeat.
