Grambling State loses at South Florida in Tough Road Match

TAMPA, Fla. | The Grambling State women's soccer team suffered a 6–0 defeat to the University of South Florida on Sunday afternoon at Corbett Stadium.

With the loss, Grambling moves to 2-5-2 on the season, while South Florida improves to 5-4-0.

Grambling started the first half strong and kept the match tight through the opening stretch. 

The breakthrough came in the 20th minute when South Florida's Sadie Sider-Echenberg finished a pass from Gentiana Fetaj to make it 1-0.

South Florida carried a 1-0 lead into halftime. 

Early in the second half Keito Ido extended the lead in the 54th minute as Grambling played with one player short.

Hedda Ornberg then struck twice, scoring in both the 57th and 60th minutes to put the game out of reach. 

The Bulls continued to press as Macy Felton found the net in the 77th minute. 

Mia Rodach closed the scoring with an 81st-minute goal.

Grambling recorded three shots in the contest, with efforts from Liana Bryant, Layla Jackson, and Alana Aiken

Goalkeepers Jaliyah Clark and Kaia Bace combined for eight saves against South Florida's 36-shot attack.
