GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State women's soccer struck early but a late equalizer forced the Tigers to settle for a 1-1 draw against Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday evening at the GSU Soccer Complex.
With the result, Grambling moves to 2-3-2 on the season while Southeastern Louisiana goes to 0-4-2.
The Tigers wasted little time getting on the board, breaking through in the 4th minute when
Sophia Lezizidis finished a pass from
Olivia Kowall to give Grambling a 1-0 lead.
Grambling kept up the pressure throughout the first half firing six shots and forcing four saves from Lions goalkeeper Kendall Curran.
Southeastern Louisiana found its answer late in the second half.
In the 82nd minute, Alexandra Knight slotted home the equalizer from a corner to tie the match at 1-1.
Lezizidis early strike highlighted the Tigers attack, while goalkeeper
Kaia Bace finished with three saves.
