DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | Grambling State held strong down the stretch to secure a 67–60 victory over Bethune-Cookman (3-13,1-2 SWAC) on Saturday afternoon in Southwestern Athletic Conference action at Moore Gymnasium.
The Tigers set the tone early, outscoring Bethune-Cookman 20–13 in the opening quarter before carrying a 35–26 advantage into halftime.
Grambling (5-12,2-2 SWAC) maintained control in the third quarter matching the Wildcats push while extending the lead to 51–45 entering the final period.
Bethune-Cookman attempted to rally late, but Grambling sealed the game at the free-throw line.
The Tigers converted 12 fourth-quarter free throws to preserve the seven-point win.
Shaniah Nunn led the Tigers with a strong all-around performance finishing with 20 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double her sixth of the season.
Monica Marsh added 11 points, while
Zaria Johnson contributed nine points off the bench.
Alisha Murray and
Arianna Mosley chipped in six points apiece as Grambling's bench played a key role.
Grambling shot 45.5 percent from the field and outrebounded Bethune-Cookman 38–29.
