Southern Pulls Away Late, Defeats Grambling State 60–43 on Greek Day

GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State struggled to find offensive rhythm Saturday afternoon as Southern University used a strong start and balanced scoring to secure a 60–43 win in Southwestern Athletic Conference action inside the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

Southern opened the game on a 24–13 first-quarter run and carried momentum into halftime with a 41–27 advantage.

The Tigers were unable to cut into the deficit in the second half, as Southern held Grambling to just 16 combined points across the third and fourth quarters.

Grambling was limited to 26.2 percent shooting from the field and was held scoreless from three-point range, finishing 0-for-19 beyond the arc.

Despite multiple defensive stops the Tigers could not capitalize offensively as Southern maintained control throughout the contest.

Shaniah Nunn led Grambling State with 16 points and nine rebounds, recording her team-leading scoring effort of the afternoon.

Alisha Murray added six points off the bench, while Monica Marsh chipped in five points.

The Tigers forced 20 turnovers but were unable to convert consistently on the offensive end.

Southern received a balanced effort, led by Demya Porter's 16 points and seven rebounds, while the Jaguars bench accounted for 30 points in the victory.
