Late Rally Not Enough as Grambling Falls Twice at Prairie View A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX. | The Grambling State Tigers softball team dropped both games of a Southwestern Athletic Conference doubleheader to Prairie View A&M on Saturday, falling 8–0 in the opener before a 9–5 loss in game two.

In game one, Grambling State struggled to generate offense managing just one hit in the contest.

Prairie View A&M broke through in the second inning on an RBI single and added another run in the third to take a 2–0 lead.

The Panthers put the game out of reach in the fourth inning scoring four runs.

Prairie View added two more runs in the fifth inning to secure the run-rule victory.

Cadashia Collins recorded the Tigers only hit finishing 1-for-2 at the plate.

Jaidan Richard took the loss in the circle, allowing eight runs on 12 hits.

In the second game, Grambling State jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Z'Natria Evans delivered an RBI single to bring home Cadashia Collins for a 1–0 advantage.

Prairie View answered in the second inning to tie the game and used a three-run fourth inning to take control.

The Panthers added three more runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 7–1.

Grambling State responded with a four-run sixth inning to cut the deficit to 7–5.

Tavia Leadon sparked the rally with a two-RBI single while Hailey Hughes added an RBI double.

Kamille Carter also drove in a run during the surge.

Prairie View A&M responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to push the lead back to 9–5 and close out the game.

Cadashia Collins led the Tigers offensively in game two going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.

Z'Natria Evans added two hits and an RBI, while Tavia Leadon contributed two RBIs.

Hailei Harrell got the start in the circle, Jaidan Richard came in as relief.

Grambling State returns home to host the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series at the GSU Softball Complex. The series begins on Friday, March 27 at 1 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 starting at 12 p.m. in Grambling, La.
