Grambling State Explodes in Sixth to Secure 8-6 Comeback Win

COMMERCE, TX. | The Grambling State Tigers softball team took home the midweek victory against East Texas A&M, 8-6 at John Cain Family Softball Complex

The Tigers opened the scoring in the first inning when Broussard singled down the left field line to score Specks from first base.

East Texas A&M got on the board first in the first inning with fly ball from Aaliyah Wilcox to score Isabella Arzola.

Tatum Wrights two-RBI homer put the Lions on top 3-2 in the bottom of the third inning.

Ahsunte' Specks responded with her third home run of the season in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game for Grambling State.

The deadlock was broken in the bottom of the fifth when East Texas A&M plated three runs off a two-RBI home run and a sacrifice fly to make the score 6-3.

The Tigers drove in six runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the game from East Texas A&M.

The rally started with a sacrifice bunt from Hailey Hughes to score Ziya Donaldson from second base.

Toni Purchas followed with scoring from a passed ball.

Specks stepped up once again to deliver a big single to center field to score Hailey Hughes and tie the game 6-6

Cadashia Collins sealed the win with a double to left center, plating Specks from second base and Kamryn Broussard from first to make the Tigers lead 8-6.

Specks led Grambling State at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two-RBIs.

Broussard finished 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Collins hit the go-ahead double to win the Tigers the game.

She finished with two hits and two-RBIs while Toni Purchas added two hits.

Jaidan Richard's solid pitching improves her record to 3-6, she allowed 13 hits on six earned runs.

Madison Kloepper took the loss for East Texas A&M dropping to 4-9.
