Grambling State Falls in Road Game at Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Grambling State men's basketball team fell 77‑63 at Alabama A&M Tuesday night at the AAMU Events Center.

Alabama A&M built a big lead early, outscoring Grambling State 39‑21 in the first half and maintaining control throughout the second. The Bulldogs finished the game shooting 48 percent from the field (24‑of‑50) and 53 percent from three‑point range (9‑of‑17), while the Tigers hit 41 percent of their field goals (23‑of‑56) and 29 percent from long range (6‑of‑21). The Bulldogs also made 80 percent of their free throws (20‑of‑25) compared with Grambling's 79 percent (11‑of‑14).

For Grambling State (12‑18, 6‑11 SWAC), Jamil Muttilib led the Tigers with 16 points and seven rebounds. Roderick Coffee III added 13 assists and five rebounds, directing the Grambling offense for much of the night. Derrius Ward chipped in 10 points, and Devyn Franklin scored four. Grambling finished with 31 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive glass, but committed 13 turnovers that limited second‑chance opportunities.

Alabama A&M (17‑13, 10‑7 SWAC) was paced by Koron Davis, who scored 15 points with seven rebounds. Sami Pissis collected four assists, and Kintavious Dozier added 10 points and five rebounds. PJ Eason contributed nine points and six rebounds, while James Graham III scored 14 off the bench. The Bulldogs totaled 32 rebounds and had a 9‑4 edge in steals.

Grambling State battled in the second half, trimming the deficit at times, but was never able to cut into the margin built early by Alabama A&M. Turnovers and cold shooting from beyond the arc hindered the Tigers' comeback efforts.
