GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State dropped both games of a doubleheader to Prairie View A&M on Friday at the GSU Softball Complex, falling 9–5 in game one and 15–5 in game two.
In the opener, Grambling State (13-22) jumped out early with a three-run first inning behind RBI hits from
Z'Natria Evans and
Alexis Hope to take a 3–2 lead.
The Lady Tigers added runs in the fifth and sixth including a strong day at the plate from
Logan-Ray Gaspar, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Prairie View (21-14) stayed within reach before breaking the game open in the sixth inning scoring six runs to pull away and secure the 9–5 win.
In game two, Prairie View struck early and never let up, scoring two runs in the first and adding five more in the second to take control.
Grambling answered with a pair of runs in the second, highlighted by an RBI single from
Ziya Donaldson, and added another in the third on aggressive baserunning.
Prairie View put the game away in the fifth inning with an eight-run frame to extend the lead to 15–3.
Grambling added two runs in the bottom half, but the deficit proved too large.
Donaldson and Gaspar each recorded RBIs in the second game, while
Kamryn Broussard scored twice.
