GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State dropped both games of a doubleheader to Southern, falling 8–1 and 8–2 on Friday at the GSU Softball Complex.
In game one, Southern jumped out early with three runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Ariel Burton led the Jaguars offensively, going 3-for-4 with five RBI.
Hailey Hughes accounted for Grambling's lone run with an RBI triple, while
Logan-Ray Gaspar added a pair of hits.
Southern continued its momentum in game two, using a three-run third inning and late insurance runs to secure the 8–2 win.
Burton again delivered a key hit with a two-run home run while Asia George scored three times.
Grambling showed more production at the plate in the second game tallying 10 hits.
Ahsunte' Specks led the way with three hits, while Gaspar and
Kamryn Broussard each drove in a run.
Jaidan Richard and
Hailei Harrell were each charged with the losses in the circle.
