MARSHALL, TX. | Grambling State softball exploded offensively in a doubleheader sweep of Wiley on April 7, winning 13-3 and 14-2.
The Lady Tigers (13-20) jumped on Wiley early in both games and never let up.
In the first game,
Cadashia Collins got things started with a sacrifice fly in the opening inning, scoring
Ahsunte' Specks.
Ziya Donaldson added an RBI single in the third.
Grambling State's bats went into overdrive in the fifth inning, scoring eight runs on a mix of hits and Wiley (5-18) errors.
Kendyll Turpeau,
Hailey Hughes, and
Hailei Harrell all contributed key RBIs.
Hailei Harrell earned the win on the mound, striking out five over five innings.
The second game was more of the same as Grambling State scored eight runs in the first inning.
Kendyll Turpeau was hit by a pitch to drive in the first run, and
Tavia Leadon added a two-RBI single.
Ziya Donaldson and
Hailei Harrell again delivered hits, while
Jaidan Richard limited Wiley to just two runs over four innings to earn the win.
Grambling State combined for 27 runs, 23 hits, and made Wiley's errors count in both games.
