THIBODAUX, La. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against Nicholls on Sunday morning at the Thibodaux Soccer Complex.
The Lady Tigers entered halftime trailing 2-0 after Nicholls (1-1-2) scored twice in a 93-second span late in the opening half.
Jezlyn Nelson opened the scoring in the 40th minute at the 39:43 mark, before Olyvia Pugh added a second goal at 41:16.
Grambling State responded in the second half, with
Layla Jackson cutting the deficit in half in the 70th minute with a shot into the bottom right corner.
Five minutes later, freshman Jaleah Gonzalez found the equalizer, scoring her first collegiate goal off an assist from
Anaiya Morris.
Grambling State finished with 14 shots, including five on goal, while goalkeeper
Alina Arneth recorded six saves.
The Lady Tigers also earned eight corner kicks.
Nicholls recorded 11 shots, including eight on goal, and goalkeeper Aislinn Wright made three saves.
With the draw, Grambling State moves to 0-1-1 on the season.
