LAKE CHARLES, La. | Grambling State battled throughout Thursday night's match but fell to McNeese, 3-0, at Townsley Law Arena.
The Tigers dropped the opening set 25-19 before McNeese claimed the second set, 25-22, and closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the third set.
Grambling State (3-7) finished with 35 kills on 129 attacks and posted a .155 hitting percentage. The Tigers also recorded 31 assists, six service aces and 50 digs.
Lyric Jordan led Grambling State offensively with nine kills on 35 attacks and added three digs and two points. Kenya Lucas finished with eight kills and a pair of blocks, while Angelique Pena posted four kills on 10 attacks without committing an error for a team-best .400 hitting percentage.
Amaris Marks added six kills, while Rihianna Brown recorded three kills, one service ace and a block.
Bailey Hollis helped direct the Grambling State offense with 10 assists, while Reece Cook added nine assists. Asialin Powell led the Tigers defensively with 15 digs, followed by Piper Nelson with six and Hollis with seven.
McNeese finished the match with 44 kills and a .244 hitting percentage. Ava Henry led the Cowgirls with 10 kills and a .400 hitting percentage, while Gabbie Maldonado added 12 kills and a team-high 12.5 points.
Grambling State stayed within striking distance throughout the match, with 23 total lead changes and 11 tie scores across the three sets.
