Deveonte Mackey begins his second year, and first year as Special Teams Coordinator, at Grambling State University.
Mackey, who joined Grambling State in 2020, is responsible for assisting in coaching the special teams, along with being involved in-game planning and advanced scouting. His additional responsibilities include the completion of scouting reports, film tags assisting with drills supervising the offensive line and on gameday charting plays.
Prior to coming to Grambling State, Mackey was a graduate assistant with the offensive line at Shorter University. He worked with the tackles with their run and page game on a daily basis and served as the head equipment manager, handling jerseys, helmets, inventory and gameday operations manager.
Before Shorter University, Mackey worked at Victory Christian Academy and Kathleen Senior High School as the offensive line/run game coordinator.
Mackey was a 20-game starter on the offensive line at Winston-Salem State University where he helped the Rams to one NCAA Division II Playoff appearance and two CIAA Championships. He was selected to the All-CIAA 2018 preseason offensive line and selected a team captain.
Mackey earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management at Winston-Salem State in 2018 and is currently working on his Masters of Science Degree in Sports Administration from Grambling State.
