LeTresha Armstrong-Jones begins her first year as a graduate assistant with the Grambling State University women’s basketball program.

Amstrong-Jones, known as “Tree,” is a native of Shreveport, La. and played basketball at Booker T. Washington High School from 1986-1990.She was a four-year starting point guard and in her junior and senior years in high school and helped lead BTW’s basketball team to two State Championships, which was the first in the school’s history.

In addition to her outstanding high school career, Armstrong-Jones also played in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball league for the North Louisiana Region from 1988-1990. Her notoriety gained her an abundance of basketball scholarships, including offers from NCAA Division I Institutions (USC, Grambling State University, Stephen F. Austin, University of Dartmouth, and St. Bonaventure).

In 1990, she accepted a full scholarship to attend and play at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, where she played two years for the Lady Apache's.  In her sophomore year at TJC, LeTresha was named team captain and helped lead her team to a Southwest Junior College Conference Championship.

In 1992, Armstrong-Jones was awarded a full basketball scholarship to Grambling State University (GSU) under the coaching staff of Patricia Bibbs and David Ponton. She was named co-captain her senior year, and GSU's Defensive Player of the Year. Her role as a team leader and being a floor general on the court was instrumental in helping the GSU Lady Tigers become the first team in school history to receive an NCAA Invitation.

In 1995, Armstrong-Jones started her 20-year career in Technology in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and in 2019, she earned a bachelor's degree in Leisure Studies with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation from Grambling State University.

Armstrong-Jones is currently enrolled in Grambling State University's master’s degree program in Sports Administration where she is scheduled to graduate summa cum laude  in December 2021. Some of her most recent notable accomplishments are being on the President’s List and graduating with honors.

After graduate school, Armstrong-Jones plans to work in a sporting capacity that will allow her to use her knowledge, passion and love for sports to win many more championships.
