Thomas, who was named the SWAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday, averaged 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.5 blocks in wins over Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern. The Homer, La. native scored 20 of his career-high 27 points in the first half as Grambling State defeated Texas Southern for the first time in over 10 years on Monday night. He shot 50 percent (16-of-32) from the floor and 50 percent (5-of-10) from behind the 3-point line in the two games.
In the conference games, Thomas ranks eighth in scoring at 15.0 points per game and ranks fourth in free throw percentage (.870) as he has made 20-of-23 from the charity stripe.
