Jason Alvarez was selected the Grambling State University Male Student-Athlete of the Week.

Alvarez, who was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Pitcher of the Week, delivered seven strong innings for the Tigers in his first-ever start for the team, scattering four hits and allowing just one run during Grambling State's 3-1 victory over Alabama State at the Andre Dawson Classic. The junior from Danbury, Conn. struck out 10 hitters, retiring five straight hitters on two separate occasions in the game.
