Funeral Services Set for Eddie Robinson Jr.

Grambling, La (November 14, 2013) - The Grambling State University family was hit with another loss as Coach Eddie G. Robinson Jr., the only son of the late legendary football Coach Eddie G. Robinson Sr., passed away.

Coach Junior, as he was affectionately known, loved the game of football and working with kids. He spent part of his career coaching at several high schools, including Webster, Carroll and Grambling high schools. When his father gave him the opportunity to coach alongside him at Grambling State University, nothing gave him more joy.

"We ask that everyone support Mrs. Doris Robinson and the Robinson family in their time of grief.", said Dr. Frank G. Pogue, president of Grambling State University. ?"The family informed us that he passed away from complications from recent heart surgery. He was a strong professional and upstanding man in his own right."?

Coach Junior was also instrumental in the creation and development of the Eddie Robinson Museum. When the museum opened, he stated "My father would have been proud of the museum and the hard work and contributions that everyone made into making the museum a reality."

Coach Junior enjoyed supporting the Tigers and was nearly always at practice. He would come out in his gold jogging suit and always show support for the team and coaches.

During the last home game and for the Bayou Classic, the Tigers wore a gold decal with "ER Jr." written in black on their helmets in memory of Eddie Robinson Jr. The team has also donned gold jogging suits in his honor during their practices and workouts.

The visitation for Robinson will be on Friday, November 15th from 1-4 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Ruston, La. and then again from 5-7 p.m. at New Rocky Valley Baptist Church in Grambling, La. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 11 a.m. at the T.H. Harris Auditorium on the GSU campus.
