Lady Tigers Scorch Devilettes

GRAMBLING, La. (Women's basketball) - Grambling State University Lady Tiger's Shakyla Hill was perfect from the field.  Jazmin Boyd was precise from the free throw line but Kiana Jones stole the show off the bench. Jones registered a career high 20 points. 
 
 Grambling made quick work of Southwestern Athletic Conference opponent, Mississippi Valley State University (8-12, 5-4 SWAC). The Lady Tigers routed the Delta Devilettes, 88-67, at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center on Monday night. 
 
 
GSU used a 15-3 first quarter run to push an unmatchable pace. The Lady Tigers led by 23 at the break. The team's largest lead of the game was 35 points. Grambling took advantage of 25 MVSU turnovers to score 37 points off turnovers. 
 
 
Hill dominated the court as she went 6-of-6 with 15 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Jazmin Torian was on fire scoring 17 points and five rebounds. Torian frustrated the Devilettes defense by knocking down three triples. Boyd scored 11 points and was 6-of -6 from the line. 
 
MVSU was led by Ashely Beals with 27 points and eight rebounds. Beals was followed by Kristy Parker with 14 points. Kenya Hailey recorded a team high four assists.
 
The Lady Tigers will travel to Baton Rouge, La. as the team faces Southern University on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m.
