GRAMBLING, La. (Men's basketball) -
Ervin Mitchell and Avery Ugba carried the Grambling State University Tigers to the end of regulation but 60 minutes wasn't enough to decide the winner of this bout. The Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils (3-19, 3-6 SWAC) took Grambling to the brink but the Tigers weathered the storm to take the game, 77-74.

Remond Brown locked in and carried his team the rest for of the way scoring six of the GSU's 13 points in overtime. Grambling State's mental toughness helped them to grab the team's tenth victory of the season and first double digit win season since 2010. The Tigers (10-12, 5-4 SWAC) are 9-1 at home.
Mitchell undoubtedly made the two biggest plays of the game for Grambling. At the end of regulation he stole a MVSU pass and went coast-to-coast to tie the game at 64 and force overtime. In OT, he made the best play of the night with the game tied at 74, Mitchell backed downed a defender and nailed a turn-around jumper failing to the court for Grambling State to take the led 76-74 with 14.6 left.
Mitchell led the way for Grambling as he scored a game high 24 points and four assists. He was followed by Ugba who finished with a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds.
The team was 44.3 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the three point arc, and 62.1 percent from the free throw line.
MVSU was led by Romain with 18 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Isaac Williams had a nose for the ball as he came up with three steals.
The team was 37.5 percent from the field, 30 percent from the arc and 64.5 percent from the stripe.
