Shakyla Hill surpassed the 1,000-point plateau as she scored a career-high 26 points, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Tigers fell to Alabama, 73-49, on Sunday afternoon at Coleman Coliseum.

Alabama (6-3) led 14-6 after one quarter and outscored Grambling State, 20-17, in the second to take a 34-23 lead into the break. The Crimson Tide used a 21-7 run in the third quarter and led 55-30 going into the final quarter.

Hill finished with a double-double in points and rebounds to pace the Grambling State offense. She tallied 26 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, and added eight steals and four assists.
Darae Taylor registered a career-high seven points and added one steal, one assist and one rebound.

Hannah Cook led Alabama with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Ashley Williams finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.

Turning Point
Alabama led 14-6 after a free throw by Jordan Lewis with 38 seconds left in the opening quarter and the Crimson Tide took that advantage into the second.

Grambling State (3-4) fought back and used a 6-0 run, capped by a Hill 3-pointer to cut the margin to 14-12 with 8:08 left in the period. Alabama answered an outscored the Lady Tigers, 13-6, over the next five minutes to grab a 27-18 advantage with 3:41 remaining in the first half.

The Crimson Tide took a 34-23 lead into the break and used a 14-5 run to begin the third quarter, capped when Cook sank a jumper with 3:15 left. Alabama didn't look back in picking up its sixth win of the season.

Inside the Numbers
* Grambling State shot 32.3 percent (20-of-62) from the floor and 66.7 percent (8-of-12) from the free-throw line.
* Alabama was 44.1 percent (26-of-59) shooting and 59.3 percent (16-of-27) from the charity stripe.
* The Lady Tigers finished with 32 rebounds, including 22 on the defensive end.
* The Crimson Tide registered 51 rebounds, including 34 off the defensive glass.
* Grambling State scored 30 points in the paint, 22 off 21 Crimson Tide turnovers, 18 fast break points and 15 bench points.
* Alabama tallied 38 points in the paint, 32 bench points, 15 second-chance points and 12 off of 18 Lady Tiger turnovers.
* There was just one tie and no lead changes.

The Lady Tigers began a stretch of three games in five days starting on Saturday with a trip to Jonesboro, Ark., to take on Arkansas State. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. against the Red Wolves. Grambling State leaves Jonesboro for Myrtle Beach, S.C. to take on North Carolina on Tuesday, Dec. 19 and closes out the five-day, three-game swing on Thursday, Dec. 21 at Memphis.
