HOUSTON, Texas | The Grambling State University volleyball team split of pair of matches on Saturday during the second day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Round-up, hosted by Texas Southern University. The Lady Tigers began the day with a 3-0 loss to Alabama A&M, but bounced back with a 3-0 victory over Alcorn State.
 
In the opener, Grambling State (6-13 overall, 2-2 SWAC) dropped the match to Alabama A&M, 25-20, 25-13, 25-12.
 
Talicia Lang led the way offensively with 10 kills and three digs. Nicks added seven kills and six digs. L'Muriell Thrower and Diemend Richardson finished with 13 and 12 assists, respectively. Erineka Mollere paced the Lady Tigers defensively with 12 digs.
 
Jaelin Gant led Alabama A&M with 11 kills, while Meredith Sieck added 30 assists. Helena Figueiredo finished with 12 digs, while Terra Brooks and Riley Balsmeyer each had 11.
 
In the second match, Grambling State won the opening set, 29-27, before cruising to the three-set victory with scores of 25-14 and 25-16.
 
Kevreion Ward led the offense with 13 kills and five digs, while Jaivienna Jones added 11 kills. Thrower and Richardson finished with 17 and 11 assists, respectively. Richardson paced the defense with 13 digs, while Mollere chipped in with 11 and Thrower finished with 10.
 
Daharri Thompkins paced the Alcorn State offense with eight kills, while Brittney Dumas added 19 assists. Kaylyn Latin finished with 11 digs and Fiapaipai Iosia chipped in with 10 digs.
 
Inside the Numbers
· In Grambling State's win, the Lady Tigers finished with 41 kills, 53 digs, 39 assists, six service aces and five total team blocks.
· There were nine ties and five lead changes in Grambling State's three-set victory.
· Grambling State held Alcorn State to an .092 hitting percentage and 31 kills.

· Grambling State is 2-2 on this road trip with victories over Jackson State and Alcorn State.
· On Tuesday, Chasity Nicks was named the SWAC Offensive Player of the Week.
