GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University soccer team trailed for 60 minutes on Friday afternoon, but GSU found a way to win with a pair of goals during the final 28 minutes to defeat Jackson State, 2-1, in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game at the GSU Soccer Complex.
"It was a nail bitter today," Grambling State head coach
Justin Wagar said. "We came out flat today and dug ourselves a hole. I'm happy we battled back in the second half. Jackson State is a well-coached team and they came out fired up."
Grambling State (4-5-0 overall, 2-0-0 SWAC) fell behind quickly as Jackson State took a 1-0 lead in the third minute as Jalah Carter scored on an unassisted goal.
Jackson State (1-9-1, 1-1-1 SWAC) kept the advantage until the 63rd minute when
Jasmine Smith assisted on a
Janee Harris goal for the equalizer.
Grambling State took the lead for good just seven minutes later when
Kaylee Holt connected off a rebound and fired the ball into the back of the net for the 2-1 advantage.

Jordan Woodward didn't face a shot on goal in 90 minutes of action.
· Faith Toennies finished with one save for Jackson State.
· Grambling State out-shot Jackson State, 12-4, including 6-2 in the second half.
· There were a combined 31 fouls and five yellow cards.
