GRAMBLING, La. | Chasity Nicks led three Grambling State University volleyball players in double-digit kills, but it wasn't enough in a 3-1 loss to Texas Southern in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match on Monday evening at the GSU Men's Gymnasium.
Grambling State (9-22 overall, 5-10 SWAC) took the opening set, 25-22, but Texas Southern (10-18, 8-8) bounced back with scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-23, to claim the match.
Nicks finished with 17 kills, with six errors, on 32 total attacks for a .344 hitting percentage.
Kevreion Ward added 14 kills and seven digs, while
Talicia Lang registered a double-double of 13 digs and 10 kills.
L'Muriell Thrower dished out a team-high 25 assists, while
Sheila Borders tallied 21 assists and 10 digs. Defensively,
Erineka Mollere led the charge with 14 digs.
Alexis Austin paced Texas Southern with 12 kills and seven digs, while Jada Hall added 10 kills. Alyssa Chuidian recorded 21 assists and 13 digs for the double-double. Breyanna York chipped in with 20 assists and Valencia Grayson finished with 13 digs.
