GRAMBLING, La. | Dallas Polk-Hilliard posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Grambling State University men's basketball team rolled past Jarvis Christian, 105-68, on Friday night in the 2018 home opener at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

Grambling State (1-0) led 45-24 at the break after shooting a scorching 51.5 percent (17-of-33) from the floor. The Tigers finished the night by shooting 42-of-72 from the field for 58.3 percent.

Polk-Hilliard tallied a game-high 17 points, on 8-of-13 shooting, with 10 rebounds, one steal and one assist.
Lasani Johnson came off the bench to pour in 16 points, on 6-of-10 shooting, and five rebounds.

Anthony Gaston each added 11 points.

Chasten King led three Jarvis Christian players in double figures with 17 points. Jaewon Newton chipped in with 13 points and seven boards, while Dalyn Mymphrey tallied 10 points and nine rebounds.

Turning Point
Grambling State raced out to a 7-1 advantage after a dunk by Devante Jackson with 17:27 left in the first half. After a bucket by Jarvis Christian 14 seconds later, the Tigers used a 9-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 16-3 lead after a layup by
Prince Moss.

A layup by Jaweon Williams with 13 minutes left in the opening half closed the gap to 16-5 and that would be as close as the Bulldogs would get.

The Tigers used a 10-2 run over the next four minutes to push the advantage to 26-7 after three-point play by
Dallas Polk-Hilliard.

Grambling State extended the lead to as many as 23 points (35-12) with five minutes left in the first half and the Bulldogs trimmed the deficit to 37-20, with 3:26 remaining. However, the Tigers closed out the half on an 8-2 run to take a 45-22 advantage into the half.
