BATON ROUGE, La. | The Grambling State University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 to Alabama A&M and Alcorn State at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Round-Up.
 
Match 1 vs. Alabama A&M (3-0 loss)
Grambling State, coming off a 3-2 victory on Friday night over Alabama State, which snapped a 43-match conference winning streak by the Lady Hornets, dropped its opening match of the day to Alabama A&M.
 
The Lady Bulldogs claimed the match by scores of 25-14, 25-13, 26-24.
 
Chasity Nicks paced the Lady Tiger offense with eight kills. L'Muriell Thrower and Sheila Borders tallied 13 and 10 assists, respectively and Erineka Mollere led the way on the defense with nine digs.
 
Maya Evans led Alabama A&M with 11 kills, while Megan Evans dished out a match-high 27 assists. Jaelin Gant, Evans, Terra Brooks and Mine Centinoz each recorded seven digs to pace the Lady Bulldog defense.
 
Match 2 vs. Alcorn State (3-0 win)
Grambling State dropped a hard-fought three-set match, losing 25-23, 25-22, 27-25.
 
Talicia Lang led the way offensively with seven kills, while Thrower added 13 assists. Mollere paced the defense with 14 digs.
 
Sydney Joseph finished with 12 kills to lead Alcorn State and Barbara Cabo registered 23 assists. Fiapaipai Iosia recorded a team-high nine digs.

> Against Alabama A&M, Grambling State finished with a .059 hitting percentage (27 kills, 22 errors, 85 attacks)
> Alabama A&M recorded 40 kills, 16 errors, 99 attacks for a .242 hitting percentage
> The Lady Tigers registered 37 digs, 26 assists, 7.5 total team blocks and two service aces
> The Lady Bulldogs tallied 35 assists, 34 digs, 7.0 total team blocks and five service aces
> Against Alcorn State, Grambling State finished with 32 kills, 18 errors, 97 attacks (.144 hitting percentage)
> Alcorn State tallied a .257 hitting percentage (45 kills, 17 errors, 109 attacks)
> The Lady Tigers registered 38 digs, 29 assists, five service aces and 4.0 total team blocks
> The Lady Braves added 39 digs, 38 assists, nine service aces and 6.0 total team blocks
