HOUSTON, Texas | Talicia Lang poured in 12 kills and
Kevreion Ward added 11, but it wasn't enough as the Grambling State University volleyball team opened its two-match Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Texas road trip with a 3-1 loss to Texas Southern on Sunday.

Texas Southern won the match with scores of 25-19, 26-24, 22-25, 25-23.

Lang led the way for Grambling State (4-16 overall, 2-4 SWAC) with 12 kills on 30 attacks, with five errors (.233 hitting percentage). She also completed the double-double with 14 digs. Ward finished with a .219 hitting percentage with 11 kills on 32 attacks, with four errors.
L'Muriell Thrower dished out a team-high 28 assists, while
Sheila Borders added 15.
Kabria Dame chipped in with 14 digs to lead the defense. Thrower and
Teryn Phillips registered 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Eboni Mitchell led Texas Southern (5-13, 3-3) with 18 kills, while Kirby Anderson chipped in with 12. Jada Hall added 11. Breyanna York handed out a match-high 42 assists and Jordan Brown paced the defense with 12 digs.
