HOUSTON, Texas | The Grambling State University women's basketball team had three players finish in double figures and
Shakyla Hill posted her second triple-double in seven days as GSU rolled past Texas Southern, 75-67, in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game on Saturday night at the H&PE Arena.

Grambling State (7-10 overall, 4-1 SWAC) trailed by as many as six in the first quarter, but closed out the period on a 12-5 run to tie the game at 14 entering the second. GSU controlled the second period and outscored TSU, 23-14, to take a 37-28 advantage into the break. Grambling State saw its lead dwindle to four a couple times in the third, but used an 11-4 run to close out the period and take a 54-43 lead into the final quarter.

Jazmin Boyd, who went 7-of-16 from the floor, including going 5-for-9 from behind the 3-point line, scored 11 of her team-high 20 points in the first half to pace Grambling State. Boyd added four rebounds and one block. Hill finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, along with two steals.
Camryn London registered 10 points, one steal, one rebound and one assist.

Niya Mitchell led Texas Southern with a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds, along with five steals, four assists and two blocks. Richelle Velez chipped in with 11 points and one board.

Turning Point
Texas Southern (5-10, 1-3) opened the game on a 9-2 run, capped by an Isis Lane bucket with 7:14 left in the first period. Grambling State battled back and cut the margin to 10-9 after a
Shakyla Hill 3-pointer with 3:52 remaining.

A jumper as time expired to end the first quarter by
Ariel Williams tied the game at 14 as Grambling State outscored Texas Southern over the final seven minutes 12-5.

Grambling State used an 18-7 run during the first seven minutes of the second period to grab a 32-21 advantage after a
Camryn London 3-pointer with 3:05 remaining in the first half. Texas Southern cut the deficit to 35-28 after two free throws by Bre'Nae Andrews with 26 seconds left, but a bucket by
Jasmine Forte gave Grambling State a 37-38 advantage at the half.

GSU took a 41-30 lead after two free throws by Hill with 8:21 remaining in the third, but Texas Southern cut the deficit to 41-37 after back-to-back 3-pointers by Richelle Velez with 6:58 left in the period.

Grambling State closed out the third on an 11-4 run to take a 54-43 advantage into the final quarter.

GSU extended the lead to 64-48 after a Hill 3-pointer with just under seven minutes left. Texas Southern cut the margin to eight, but could not get any closer.
