Box Score RUSTON, La. | Despite leading by six points at the break, the Grambling State Lady Tigers fell to the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters 70-66 at the Thomas Assembly Center in a battle of two Lincoln Parish universities.
With nine seconds left in the game, Grambling trailed 68-66 and had a chance to at least tie the game or even take the lead with a 3-pointer, but La Tech's defense forced a five-second call and a turnover on the inbounds play. Seconds later, the Lady Techsters inbounded the ball and converted two free throws to seal the deal.
"We had a good play drawn up at that time," said Coach
Freddie Murray. "I thought it was a quick count, but nonetheless, we battled until the end. Unfortunately Tech was able to capitalize on the turnover. To me, that was the turning point in the game. We planned to score with little time left on the clock or at least go to overtime, but it didn't work out. Hats off to the Lady Techsters for the comeback win."
Grambling had a total of three scorers in double figures and was led by
Ariel Williams who finished with 17 points, three boards and four assists while teammate
Justice Coleman produced 15 points, grabbed six rebounds, had three steals, one assist and one block in the loss.

"We lean on Ariel and Justice and they delivered," said Coach Murray. "It is no surprise what they have done for us in the last couple of years, and that showed last night. They have the most experience on the team."
