LORMAN, Miss. | Shakyla Hill and
Jazmin Boyd combined for 39 points as the Grambling State University women's basketball team rolled past Alcorn State, 79-63, in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game on Monday night at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.

Grambling State (10-13 overall, 7-4 SWAC), which snapped a two-game losing streak, led 23-13 at the end of one period and took a 40-24 advantage into the half. The Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Braves, 24-17, in the third and cruised to the conference win.

Hill, who was 7-for-13 from the field, posted a double-double of 22 points and 11 steals, along with eight assists and five rebounds. Boyd, who went 6-of-10 from the floor, added 17 points, one board and one assist.
Madison Connally-Banks tallied eight points, two steals, one rebound and one assist.

Jada Hargrove paced Alcorn State with 15 points, eight assists, two steals, one block and one rebound. De'Asia Brown and Diamond Hall registered 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Turning Point
Grambling State opened the game on a 15-3 run, capped by a bucket by
Ariel Williams, with 6:20 left in the first period. Alcorn State closed the gap to 15-8 after a 3-pointer by Jada Hargrove with 4:29 remaining.

The Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Braves, 6-5, over the final four minutes to take a 21-13 lead into the second quarter.

Grambling State began the second period much like the first and opened the quarter on a 12-0 run, capped by a
Justice Coleman layup to give the Lady Tigers a 33-13 advantage.

The Lady Tigers pushed the margin to 19 points, 40-21, right before the half on a layup by
Shakyla Hill, but De'Asia Brown's 3-pointer cut the deficit to 40-24 entering intermission.

Alcorn State (3-20, 2-9) could not recover from the huge deficit in the second half as Grambling State cruised to the victory.
