NATCHITOCHES, LA. l The Grambling State University women's volleyball team couldn't break Northwestern State's undefeated streak as the Lady Tigers suffered a 3-0 sweep on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Demons (6-0) won the match 25-19, 25-21, 25-15.
After a kill by Shelia Borders in the first set that tied the game at 17, the Lady Demons went on a 5-1 run before committing an attack error to make the score 22-19, giving the Lady Tigers their last point in the set. Northwestern State sealed the game with two kills by Regan Lee.
In the second set, Northwestern State led by as many as five points, 6-1. The set was close as a another tie at 17 after Chasity Nicks registered a kill for Grambling State.
Grambling State (1-4) could not come back from a 10-point deficit in the third set after Kourtney Seaton capped off a 17-7 point advantage with a kill.
Nicks led the Lady Tigers offense with nine kills and led on defense with 11 digs. Tamara Johnson and Gillian Jones each had seven and six kills, respectively.
Hannah Brister paced Northwestern State with 13 and three aces. Skylar Besch tallied 24 digs for the Lady Demons while Cayman Sutton registered 14 of her own.

> Grambling State finished with 30 kills, 11 errors, 95 attacks.
> Northwestern had 51 kills, nine errors, 113 attacks.

Grambling State will continue play in the NM State Spring Hill Suites Invitational in Las Cruces, New Mexico on Friday, Sept. 13, at 12 p.m against Portland, and then at 2 p.m against Lamar. The Lady Tigers will conclude the invitational with play against New Mexico State on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 1:30 p.m.
