Box Score LORMAN, Miss. | The Lady Tigers allowed a total of five scorers in double figures and struggled on the defense end, falling 80-54 to Alcorn State in Southwestern Athletic Conference action at the Davey L. Whitney Complex. With the win, the Lady Braves tie the overall series 50-50 against the Lady Tigers.
Grambling (2-13, 1-3 SWAC) managed to score just three baskets in the opening quarter but trailed 18-11 and the end of one thanks to stellar shooting at the free-throw line as the team hit 5-of-6 attempts. However, Alcorn extended its lead to 35-24 at the break as the Lady Tigers generated just one three-point bucket in the first half.
Grambling produced two scorers in double-figures as
Candice Parramore came off the bench to lead the team with 13 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field to go along with four assists, three boards and three steals. Fellow Lady Tiger
Justice Coleman added 12 points, six rebounds, two steals, one assist, but had five turnovers in the loss.
Alcorn's bench proved to be the difference in the game as they outscored Grambling's second unit 40-19. In the end, the Lady Tigers had no answer for the Alcorn's interior, giving up a total of 56 points in the paint while scoring just 28 of their own.
Mylashia Yancy shot fifty percent from the field and chipped in with nine points, seven boards, one assist and one steal while
Ariel Williams added eight points and five boards for Grambling.
The Lady Braves were led by Charisma Walker and LaRae Rascoe who both scored 15 points apiece in the win while teammate Diamond Hall finished one assist shy of a triple-double, scoring 10 points, grabbing 15 boards and dishing out nine assists.

> Alcorn was 31-of-74 (42 percent) from the field and 16-of-25 (64 percent) from the foul line

The Lady Tigers continue conference play on Saturday, January 18 as they head back home to host Prairie View. Tip-off against the Lady Panthers is set for 3 p.m. at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center in the first of two games of the SWAC doubleheader. The men's game will follow shortly after.
