Box Score GRAMBLING, La. | After a tough two-game road trip, Grambling returned home and was unable to protect the basketball for most of the afternoon, resulting in a 67-54 loss to Prairie View A&M at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. The loss is the Lady Tigers' fourth in a row.
"We can't continue to dig a hole for ourselves early and play from behind," said Coach
Freddie Murray. "Sometimes we're tested not to show our weaknesses, but to discover our strengths."
Grambling (2-14, 1-4 SWAC) went back and forth with Prairie View early in the game as the score was tied at 15 apiece at the end of the first quarter. However, in the second quarter, the Lady Tigers managed only four points and were outscored 18-4 due to a slew of turnovers (12) in the opening half. In the third quarter Grambling outscored Prairie View 16-13 but was not able to complete the comeback.
Candice Parramore entered the starting line up for the first time in conference play and led Grambling with 17 points, three boards, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot in 36 minutes of action while fellow Lady Tiger Mylashia Yancy added 10 points and two boards in the loss. Post player
Keturah Bingham came off the bench and chipped in with eight points and three rebounds in the loss.
Justice Coleman exited the game early but was able to return and added seven points and nine boards for Grambling.
As a team Grambling committed 24 turnovers while Prairie View produced a total of 19 steals in the game.
The Lady Panthers were led by Bernesha Peters and Ke'Asia Williams who both scored 16 points apiece in the win.
"Adversity builds character and it sometimes doesn't feel good, but it's necessary for growth. You can't run from it, you have to embrace the challenge and be willing to stand strong in the midst of it," said Coach Murray.

> Grambling State shot 41 percent (16-of-39) from the floor and 73 percent (19-of-26) from the charity stripe
> Prairie View was 25-of-63 (40 percent) from the field and 10-of-12 (83 percent) from the foul line
> GSU registered 32 rebounds, including nine on the offensive glass
> Prairie View pulled down 31 rebounds, with 15 coming on the offensive end
> The Lady Tigers finished with 24 points in the paint, 15 bench points, five second-chance points and 12 fast break points
