JACKSON, Miss. | The Grambling State University volleyball team concluded play at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Roundup on Sunday afternoon as GSU dropped a three-set match (3-0) to host Jackson State at T.B. Ellis Gymnasium.
Grambling State (6-10 overall, 3-3 SWAC) dropped the match with scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-12.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State (7-10, 7-0) opened the first set on a 12-5 run and didn't look back in a 25-13 win
- In the second set, JSU led 11-5, but Grambling State battled back and tied the set at 13 after a service ace by
Sheila Borders.
- However, Jackson State closed out the frame by outscoring GSU, 10-2, down the stretch to grab a 2-0 advantage.
- GSU trailed 11-9 after an attacking error but Jackson State closed the third set strong to claim the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State finished with 17 kills, 15 errors and 84 total attacks

Maurisa Harris tallied seven digs
- Grambling State registered 26 digs, 16 assists and four service aces
- Jackson State finished with 44 kills, 10 errors and 91 total attacks
- JSU hit .533 in the second set with 17 kills, one error and 30 attacks
- Alexis Williams led the JSU offense with 16 kills
- Damassey Thompson recorded a double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs
- Jackson State registered 47 digs, 38 assists and eight service aces
