Grambling State drops three-set match to PVAMU

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | The Grambling State University volleyball team took to the road for a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match against Prairie View A&M on Sunday afternoon at the Baby Dome as the Lady Tigers dropped match, 3-0.

Prairie View A&M (2-20 overall, 2-5 SWAC) claimed the match in three sets, 25-19, 25-20, 29-27.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Tigers kept the Lady Panthers close until back-to-back errors in the first set gave Prairie View A&M the momentum they needed to get away with set one, 25-19
- Grambling State (6-11, 3-4) continued to fight back and forth early in the second set with Prairie View A&M tying the score at 6 with a kill by Gillian Jones.
- The Lady Panthers plowed through to take set two, 25-20
-The Lady Tigers tied the score at 15 in an effort to stage a comeback in the third set.
-Jada Taylor had two service aces to tie the score at 23.
-The Lady Panthers answered and so did Grambling State as Destine Cain put one down to tie the score, again, at 24.
-A kill by Gillian Jones put the Lady Tigers up, 26-25, which followed by two errors to put the Lady Panthers up 27-26.
-GSU tied the score again, for the last time, at 27 with a kill by Kalee Cadwell.
 -Prairie View A&M was too much to handle as they stole set three and the match, 29-27.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State finished with 29 kills, 20 errors, 114 total attacks.
- Gillian Jones led the offense with ten kills and one assist
-A'Lexus Everett followed with five kills and one block
- Destine Cain added four kills and another block
- Kalee Cadwell registered 17 assists
- Jada Taylor collected 10 digs for the defense and also added three aces for the Lady Tigers
- Grambling dished out a total of 32 digs, 21 assists, and 21 aces
- Sanai Fitchett led the way for the Lady Panthers, recording 13 kills and seven blocks
- Malia Viernes followed with 13 kills and six digs
- Kiersten Atkinson finished the match with 12 kills
-Jakarta Hope registered 31 assists and eight digs
- Prairie View A&M finished with 49 digs, 38 assists, four solo blocks and three service aces

UP NEXT
Grambling State returns to the court and completes the Texas Two Step on Monday with a match at Texas Southern. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. from the H&PE Arena.
