LAS VEGAS, Nev. | Two Grambling State University women's basketball players scored in double-figures, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Tigers suffered an 89-49 loss to UNLV to wrap up the UNLV Thanksgiving Tournament at the Cox Pavilion on Sunday afternoon.
Alexus Holt and
Justice Coleman led the charge for GSU (2-4), with Holt contributing 17 points with six rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Coleman racked up 14 points to go along with three rebounds and one assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 6-0 in the first period, Cierra Ellington splashed a three-pointer to put the Lady Tigers on the board at the 7:39 mark.
- UNLV (4-2) stretched its lead to 13 midway through the opening frame, but a pair free throws from Holt and a three-pointer by Coleman slimed UNLV's lead to 20-12 with 3:33 left. The Lady Rebels carried a 28-16 lead into the second period.
- In the second quarter, Grambling State outscored UNLV 14-13, relying primarily on hot shooting from long-range to keep pace with the Lady Rebels. 12 of GSU's 14 second quarter points came from behind the arc.
- Grambling State trailed 41-30 at the half.
- UNLV seized complete control of the game in the second half, outscoring the Lady Tigers 48-19.

- The Lady Tigers shot 18-of-55 from the field (32.7 percent)
- The Lady Rebels went 28-of-66 on field goal attempts (42.4 percent)
- Grambling State connected on 8-of-23 shots from three-point range (34.8 percent)
- UNLV drained 12-of-24 from behind the arc (50.0 percent)
- GSU hit on 55.6 percent of its free throws (5of-9)
- UNLV sank 21-of-31 attempts from the free-throw line (67.7 percent)
- The Lady Tigers scored 8 points off of 17 turnovers
- The Lady Rebels tallied 23 points on 22 turnovers
